Juvenile Delinquency And Justice

This new anthology offers a comprehensive overview of the essential topics in juvenile delinquency and justice. The selections encompass both landmark scholarship and cutting-edge research to expose students to a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches. Thematic section introductions and editors’ notes provide context and draw attention to how a sociological perspective can deepen understanding of the topics at issue.

The text:
uses compelling ethnographic studies to capture student interest
addresses current concerns such as school shooters, occupational delinquency, gangsta rap, and drug courts
highlights issues of race/ethnicity, gender, and class
emphasizes critical approaches to adolescent subcultures and gang delinquency
includes quantitative articles selected for their accessibility

The result is a lively and substantive grounding in the field.
